April's Link| No More Guilty Pleasures

Much change in the air, much sun in the sky, much spring in my step

Last month was some meditative music.

This month is an article | No More Guilty Pleasures

I've been reading the Numinous Blog more regularly recently and I fell in love with this particular article. It reminded me to have fun.

The term 'guilty pleasure' just goes to show what society's relationship with pleasure has become, that we feel we need to earn the right to feel pleasure, doesn't that sound awful?
And that's exactly how I've been trying to stop myself feeling, as if I need to work hard, suffer in some way or be a certain amount of productive in order to do what I actually want. I think this unfortunate way of thinking is what leads to feeling like you're not good enough, like you don't deserve something or to comparing yourself to others.

This post reminded me that no one needs to 'earn' pleasure, no one needs to prove that they deserve to feel good. Simply being here, as your are, you have the ability to feel pleasure, and that ability is exactly what entitles us to feel good!

So I've decided to honour my inner child and make sure that whatever I'm doing, whether it's particularly productive or just lying on the floor and staring at the ceiling, it's fun.

  1. This is such an interesting post! I definitely agree with you. We're here for such a short amount of time, we should focus that on bettering other people's lives and indulging ourselves. xx
